Fed: Military censors enter Fiji newspaper office
A military censor is at work in the newsroom of Fiji's largest daily newspaper which
will hit the streets with large blank spaces.
News Limited spokesman GREG BAXTER says the censor appointed by military ruler Commodore
FRANK BAINIMARAMA started vetting Fiji Times articles for publication yesterday.
News Limited has criticised Fijian authorities for tearing up the constitution and
installing an unelected military government under new arrangements for another five years.
Fiji Times editor NETANI RIKA is still publishing the newspaper .. but leaves out anything
that has been censored.
Mr BAXTER says tomorrow's edition will have large blank spaces after stories about
the crisis were rejected by the military censor who is upholding a government decree that
prevents the publication of any independent reports about the situation.
