NSW: 5,000 rubbish bins melt down in flames

SYDNEY, Aug 3 AAP - Thousands of rubbish wheelie-bins have been destroyed in a suspicious
fire in Sydney's inner west overnight.

A security guard noticed the fire in a council bin storage yard in Crane Street, Concord,
shortly after 11pm (AEST) yesterday, a NSW police spokeswoman said.

"By the time police got there, the fire had spread to 5,000 secondhand bins that had
been stockpiled by the council," she said.

Firefighters soon brought the flames under control but the bins were destroyed.

Police were treating the incident as suspicious and the cause of the blaze was under
investigation, she said.
