Vic: Ninety jobs on the line as another textile company closes
Ninety workers retrenched from a Victorian textile company will front up at the firm's
premises for the last time today.
Brush Fabrics Australia locked its doors on Tuesday, and employees have been told to
return to the factory in the Melbourne suburb of Abbottsford today to pick up paperwork
for unemployment benefits.
Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union state secretary MICHELE O'NEIL says staff are
owed about $1 million -- including last week's wages and six months of superannuation
payments.
But there's been no indication that the money will be paid.
Receiver JOSEPH LOEBENSTEIN has sent a memo to staff saying their entitlements are
a priority over other debts, but full payment cannot be guaranteed.
